Welcome to Careers, Employability and Skills at Queen's.

The Student Experience Team at Queen’s are dedicated to making your journey through student life fun and enjoyable. We’ve partnered with them for their Pre-Semester Engagement Programme.

The programme also includes the Academic Welcome event for all new and returning students, including free breakfast, at Whitla Hall on 12 September,  and the International Student Fair which will take place in the Elmwood Hall on Friday 15 September from 11am-3pm. Come and chat to our Careers team representative to find out how we can help you become a future-ready graduate.

Welcome Week

18-22 September 2023

Meet the Careers, Employability and Skills team in The Cube in One Elmwood Student Centre on Monday 18 September from 11-2pm , or Thursday 21 September  from 11-2pm, where you can pick up your free guide to careers and take a virtual tour of the Careers, Employability and Skills service at Queen's.

Alternatively, pop by the Foyer of One Elmwood between 10-1pm on 18 or 21 September and meet the team.

We in Careers, Employability & Skills are here to give you the personalised support you need, when you need it.

Where can you find us?

We’re located in One Elmwood Student Centre. We host a lot of our events and programmes in The Cube, on the 1st floor. We also organise workplace visits to employer’s office in Belfast and beyond. We’ll also deliver workshops in your University School to help you discover career options relevant to your degree. And, you’ll also find us on Canva, the University’s virtual learning platform.

Our Future-Ready Skills course will help you develop the personal and professional skills that major employers are looking for.

You’ll build up lots of skills as a student, through clubs and societies, volunteering, part-time work and development programmes.

Our Future-Ready Award is designed to recognise those skills.

The Future Ready Award (formerly DegreePlus) is an employability award that allows you to gain formal recognition and a certificate for the extracurricular experience you gain during your time at Queen’s.
